Picasso to Pollock: Art History for Young Artists:
This program focuses on teaching young children both the history behind some of the great artistic masterpieces, as well as the techniques used by the individual artists. Each day the students will explore the works and styles of a particular artist such as Warhol, Picasso, Pollock, Monet, Van Gogh, Miro, Matisse, Klimt, O’Keefe and many others. Following an overview of the artist's work, the children will delve into the hands-on process of creating some of their own masterpieces based on the study of the featured artist. The students will also be introduced to new techniques, such as painting with acrylics on canvas, blending watercolors, drawing with oil pastels, and creating with cut paper By week’s end, the students will have individual portfolios containing their own finished pieces of artwork, as well as information about the many artists explored during the week-long workshop.
